Cooper was in a foul mood when he encountered his archenemy in town the very next day. Silas did not delay in shouting about how he just heard about the proposal to Lexi. He came on rather strong with his verbal disapproval.

Silas refused to let go of the woman he loved without a fight and threw the first punch. Cooper had no choice but to retaliate to defend himself. The two of them were hammering on each other viciously when Sheriff Vaughn and Jesse broke up their altercation.

The sheriff decided they needed twenty-four hours behind bars to cool off. Cooper was worried about Lexi’s reaction to his unexplained absence. He solicited Jesse’s aid to ride out to the farm to tell her that he would not be home and explain why.
