We are too far from land. The safety it would provide forbidden to us. We are going to die.

I don’t want to think about it, but I know it to be true. I knew it the moment its great shadow moved under us, deep in the gelid water. We are too small to survive. It will devour us.

Kraken,

In Scandinavian, particularly Norse, mythology, the Kraken is a giant sea creature generally described as having squid-like tentacles and a powerful beak. 13th Century records regard this  legendary sea monster as the most horrifying of all the dangerous creatures of the seas. Kraken was merciless, and would attack a ship by wrapping their arms around the hull and capsizing it, drowning the crew to eat them next.
