“Now, I want you sticking close – I don’t need you disappearing on me again.” Keira pushed her shopping cart across the parking lot, balancing rolls of fencing wire on top.
Tad walked along beside her, his hand tight on the cart handle. “Are gonna get we cookies?”
She looked down at him and smiled. “Sure, I think we both need a treat.”
“And Zeus too – he’s hungry.”
Keira looked up at the dog squishing his muzzle out of the lowered car window, he panted, drooling down the glass. She shook her head. “Yeah, I guess we’ll have to get him something.”
Stopping the cart, Keira turned toward the station wagon, fumbling with her keys.
