Early morning sunlight flooded the porch of the farmhouse. Keira sat on the steps sipping coffee. “But I don’t want to go visit dad,” Tad whined.
“Look honey, you can visit, just for the weekend.” Keira picked up his hand, squeezing it. “You’ll have fun. See the city.”
“But I don’t want to,” he twisted the words into a steady whine.
“You know, you’ll have a good time.”
Tad shuffled his feet, “But I don’t want to leave you – here.”
“Oh sweetie, don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”
“Can you come with me?”
Keira smiled, “I’m driving you, don’t worry about that.”
