Keira smiled at Tad sprawled across the floor, busy drawing. It’s been so long since they’d felt settled. Tad coloured a pattern, rectangles, rows of regular shapes, interspersed with pentagons.
No superheroes, no volcanos, no bugs. She frowned. “Honey, whatcha drawing?”
“A gate, that nobody goes into.”
“What do you mean?”
“It’s a gate.”
“A gate, that nobody alive goes inside.”
Her stomach dropped and she glanced around; sunlight stretched across the fields. “OK sweetie, let’s find something else to do. Go out with Zeus or something.”
He stood up, and called, “C’mere boy, let’s go outside.”
She watched them wander across the yard to the maple...
