CHAPTER 3: WE’RE A COMPETITIVE LOT

We Ainsworths, we’re a competitive lot. Perhaps that’s because my siblings and I are so close in age. Or maybe because there were six of us competing for less-than-enough leftovers to go around at the supper table. Lu Ann—a feisty enough competitor in her own right—didn’t help matters any by marrying Charlie into the family. Wilagene’s husband, Stan, smoothes the edges a little bit by laughing at our competitive spirits that are still as strong as ever and quite evident in the next generation of our family.
