Daisy awoke feeling exhausted and when she sat up, the room spun. She didn’t think she had ever felt this awful. She sat on the edge of her bed for a minute until the spinning slowed and she was able to go into the bathroom. When she looked in the mirror, she saw that her eyes were puffy and that they were underlined with purple bags despite having slept for twelve hours. She splashed cold water on her face, but that did nothing to improve her condition.  She gave up and headed downstairs to find her mother in front of the stove making omelets.

  “Good morning Mija. Hungry?”

Daisy felt her stomach grumble and beg for food at the mention, “Oh my God. Yes, Mami.”
