Rory felt awful for Jaymi. She really did believe that Jaymi’s concerns, while understandable, were not true. At the same time, she was glad it wasn’t her.  Then she remembered school.

“Hey, sorry to bring this up now since you feel like shit, but it would probably be worse to ruin a good mood. What was up with school yesterday?”

“Oh god,” Jaymi stopped crying. “I felt so bad about what happened with Ty, but compared to this thing with my parents…well, it just seems so less horrifying now.”

“I still want to know.”
