Jaymi woke up that morning not remembering why she felt so tired, then it hit her. They had been up most of the night reading Jenna’s letters, but they couldn’t finish. The drama her family had was unbelievable. They had gotten through the block party letter, Jenna was only seventeen and had already seen more than Jaymi ever hoped to in her entire lifetime. At least she didn’t find her father’s body. Samantha had that pleasure.

When the words started to blur and she saw Rory’s nearly shut eyes while she sat there and swayed, Jaymi said, “Hey, let’s go to bed. You’re passing out.”

 “No, no. I want to finish,” she said, but slurred as if she were drunk. She tried her best to widen her eyes without much success.
