Jaymi, using the much needed skills she acquired to hide her emotions more than ever, made it through her last two classes. She couldn’t believe Curtis was now, of all days, in her class. She had quite literally shut down by the time she got to her seat in front of him. He probably thinks that was all about him. Guess what Curtis, you’re not that special. She couldn’t explain the fierce need to protect Rory, and by extension Seth, because in any other situation, she would have been able to stay objective.
