First Jaymi took a step back, then forward and went to step back again when she realized how ridiculous she must have looked. All the while, she had been staring at them long enough to make it awkward. Finally Jaymi walked to the other side of the room to the only empty seat. She was devastated and relieved at the same time. She felt too far away from Ty and paradoxically way too close.

She was so distracted when she crossed the room, she almost missed Rory waving her down. Rory’s almost black curly hair bounced and her hazel eyes shined with excitement. The mannerism was eerily familiar, but Jaymi didn’t have time to ponder. She happily obliged and slid straight into the seat, noting her debt to the cosmos for putting Rory there.
