When Jaymi awoke, her head felt heavy on her stiff neck as she lifted herself off her journal. While she pushed up onto her arms, she noticed they too had fallen asleep, and she felt an aching pain in her right hand along with both of her shoulders and wrists.

Her cat, Katie, was staring Jaymi down with huge, almost alien-like eyes, as if willing Jaymi awake so the fun of the day could begin. Katie was a loving orange and yellow tiger cat with the chip in her ear where another animal must have bit her. Katie had a demanding but friendly demeanor. The vet estimated that Katie had spent her first two years of life on the streets of Chicopee and also estimated she had already had one litter. Jaymi wondered what ever became of her kittens and if Katie ever missed them.
