“Oh honey, I know how much those meant to you,” Mabel grabbed and hugged Rory.

That only made Rory cry harder, effectively soaking the shoulder of Mabel’s blue silk blouse with tears. Mabel hugged her tighter. That’s when she knew she didn’t need to tell on her brother. She had true blue tears and true blue pain that she was sure her mother could feel.

It had taken Rory years to make the ever growing album, starting when she was in the fifth grade, taking the old photos of her parents stored in dusty shoe boxes in the attic, most of which taken with cheap, portable cameras or Polaroid’s. Those were irreplaceable and now gone forever. Rory was thoroughly devastated.
