Jaymi didn’t understand how she could feel it or why she could feel it, but she knew he was thinking about her. It had been such a strange and powerful day that all she could do was replay every moment spent with Ty Buller over and over. One minute elated, another terribly embarrassed, she started writing furiously in her journal chronicling every millisecond of the day. She didn’t want to forget any of it, even the awful moments.

That day had begun with Jaymi being scared, anxious, and tired. She had gotten up much earlier than was necessary to braid her dirty blond hair and iron the uniform that she hated. Her skin had broken out and she struggled with all kinds of cosmetics to cover it up. Bad enough having a huge nose, now I get acne? You have to be shitting me.
