Dear Lily,

I didn't need to look back at where I left because we had slop for lunch and I have been thinking about that slice of pie Rose and I shared that day since I wrote about it. What I wouldn't do for a piece of that right now. 

Ruth Connor’s lemon meringue pie was unlike any other lemon meringue pie in the entire world. It helped me forget all about Addie’s chocolate fudge cake, which surely was a chocolate upside down fudge blob sitting in the rubbish by that point. “You’re the best.” I said. Rose really was the best too. I miss her dearly. God rest her soul.
