Dear Lily, 

The day of Rose's graduation, I saw Toby, with happiness in his dark, almost black, eyes, watched Deidre walk her slow, sexy walk toward him to the base of the doorstep. He took her hand as soon as he could reach and guided her the rest of the way. Then he kissed the hand he was holding and their hands remained linked.

My stomach churned and I felt a bit dizzy. I cursed myself for not having eaten breakfast. I knew it was the image of those two together that caused that knee-jerk reaction. My mind kept trying to override my heart with the idea that it must have been from Addie jostling my head around by my hair and an empty stomach that made me sick. But no, it wasn’t. It was Toby.
