“I’m still at Elise’s memorial but we’ll check it out.” I listen to Tori’s heaving breath. “Are you okay? Can you come meet us here?”
“I know I should want to be with people right now, but I just don’t. I saw the invite you forwarded me, and thank you, but I just can’t go there yet.”
“I’m calling Detective Chen, then. You need police protection.”
“You can try and ask if you want. I’m staying inside with the doors locked until he’s caught.”
“I’ll call you later,” I promise. “Be safe, and yes, stay in for now, until we know more.”
I hang up and open the media apps on my phone. There’s nothing on the community sites, but then I see it on a social news media...
