Laura comes out with my coffee, and looking away, I forget about Reid for now.

"So," Laura starts, before she even sits down. "I had a long conversation today with our friend Detective Chen. They're standing by the arrest of whoever that guy is they pinned it on."

"It wasn't him," I repeat. I quickly describe being pushed into Post St. yesterday.

Laura is stunned. "What. the. hell." She seconds my own feelings. "Are you going to report it to the police?"

"Why? I doubt they'll do anything." I continue, telling her about finding the phone, the investigation Larissa and I are conducting, and my blog.
