This past Sunday I celebrated Mother’s Day for the first time. My baby isn’t here yet, but I figured after carrying baby for almost 8 months I deserved to be part of the celebrated. Interestingly enough, I encountered several people on Mother’s Day who weren’t quite sure whether I’d yet earned my participation in the holiday.
Some said, “I’m not sure whether to wish you a happy Mother’s Day because baby isn’t here yet. But I guess I will anyway?” Others wished me a happy “mom to be” day, which was better, but still didn’t ring quite true.
