The government had chartered a small private jet for the ambassadors to use for their journey to the desert. Once they were away from American airspace, they would be flanked by two F16 jets for the duration of their trip. When the group was cleared through security (Tim was amazed by how simple it was for Bob to obtain temporary passports for both him and Marcus), the triad was ushered personally to the waiting plane; when they boarded, the three men saw that the other ambassadors were already comfortably seated, looking rather at home in the posh interior of the aircraft.

Both men were accompanied by family members, causing Tim to feel suddenly self-conscious; he was unsure of what his cover story would be if he was asked about his attendance on the jet. Swooping in to...
