“Yes. The rumor is that he is going to vow our support to the United States in helping Israel. You heard about the suicide bombings?”

Tony nodded absently. He had overheard talk that the recent rash of suicide bombings in Israel was of great concern to the United States, which had vowed to remain steadfast in its support of bringing peace to the Middle East. He suspected that President Shi was viewing this as the perfect opportunity to return China to the global political scene—and in a much better light than it had been held in previously.
