Tim returned to work the following morning feeling refreshed and ready to face the responsibilities of his new position. Though the first day was hectic, the most difficult aspect proved to be enduring the repeated discussions about the horrific events in the Middle East with his new coworkers. Conspiracy theories flew wildly from one end of the office to the other, interspersed with acerbic political and religious diatribes made by everyone from the executives to the custodial staff.

Tim did his best to maintain a moderate stance, not wanting to ruffle any feathers on his first day on the job, but he was forced to bite his tongue a number of times; when he finally stepped out for lunch, he decided to take a moment to call Marcus.
