“We need to go,” Kodi said. He looked in the clearing where they heard the chewing. Suddenly, it was quiet. He couldn’t see too well into the clearing, but he saw a small trail of red.

“W-What if it’s the cat?” Esmeralda looked up at Kodi. “Whatever’s got Miss Whiskers must’ve…” She glanced at the body beneath them. 

From closer inspection, Kodi noticed the distance between the ribs and pelvis. He measured the size of the skull. All of which showed one conclusion. This was a child. The bones had only recently been discomposing, less than twenty-four hours. Whatever killed, no, ATE the boy ate every part of the meat. 

“W-We can call the cops. I’m sure the cat is fine.” Jonathan suggested.
