Genny explained in a hushed voice to the receptionist, hoping none of the other patients could overhear, that the officer who accompanied her had to remain with her at all times.  She waited with anticipation in the waiting room to be called back.  Jarrod was fidgeting in his seat and appeared to be more tense than her.

A nurse named Linda took down her weight, blood pressure, and gave her orders to have blood work done at the lab.  She was taken to a room and told the ultrasonographer would be with her in a few minutes.  Cyndi came in and got right down to business.

After confirming Genny’s last period, she was covered with a sheet and told to lower her jeans and underwear for a transvaginal ultrasound.  The image came up on the screen.
