Lindsey insisted Genny attend Hank’s graduation celebration dinner on May fourteenth. She wanted to speak to her ex-husband first and make sure she was welcome. Her step-mom conceded to have her son call and request her company himself.

Her cell phone rang, and she was excited when his number displayed on the screen. She immediately answered, “Hello, Hank. It’s really good to hear from you.”

“My mom advised me that you’ve been extended an invitation to dinner. I’m supposed to tell you it’s fine for you to show up.”

Genny’s reply was sarcastic. “You sound so thrilled to have me there. Just forget it. I don’t have to come.”

“Geeg, I’m sorry. I do want you at the dinner....
