Max took in several deep breaths after ringing the doorbell. He noticed the curtain from the window to his left slightly draw back. A giant smile spread across Genny’s face as she swung the door open and practically jumped into his arms.

“Max, I’m so happy to see you! Oh, my gosh! Where did you disappear to?”

“It’s a long story.”

“Come on in. I’ve got plenty of time for you. Lindsey and Dad have gone out for the evening, and Hank is looking after Alivia.”

She insisted he have a seat on the couch. He started tapping his foot on the floor as soon as he lowered himself next to her. A large manila envelope that he held was immediately placed in her hands. “I was published. This is a copy for you.”
