The next day, Genny was biting into her bottom lip as she entered Max’s office. He read her nervousness so easily. Only a psychic would be able to figure out the source, and he did not believe they truly existed.
“I have something to tell you, and you’re not going to like it.”
“I’m listening.”
“Hank has wanted to work things out all along, and I’ve agreed to try to save our marriage.”
Max masked the bitter disappointment that overtook him. Genny insisted she and Hank were completely over, and now he was faced with the heartache of losing her. He rebuked himself for falling for a student in the first place.
