Hank was actually sitting at the table when Genny came downstairs for breakfast. She started to back away quietly and retreat to her room to avoid him. Too late. He had already spotted her.

“Morning, GG. Did you get any sleep last night?”

“Not really. Alivia is teething.” Genny slightly rubbed her head as she attempted to comprehend why Hank even asked. He obviously could care less.

“Look, GG, I’m really sorry I haven’t been around much to help out. I have a lot of papers to write this semester, and I don’t want to bother you. I figure you’ve got your hands full with Liv.”

An actual apology from Henry Moretti’s lips. Would wonders never cease? Genny had to play nice now. “It’s okay, Hank. I’m managing.”
