Jamie and Parker walked into the school gymnasium, the loud blare of music pounding through them. It was filled with a riotous mob of dancing students under a mix of multicolored lights and strobes.

At the edge of the activity, Jamie stopped and looked at Parker. For Homecoming, Parker had bought a strapless dress with corset lacing across the back and layered petticoats that came down to her knees. Her legs were covered in fishnet stockings. She'd applied a thick layer of white makeup and then painted whimsical lines across her face. Combined with the butterfly wings strapped to her back, Parker looked like an insane Tinkerbell.
