"Did I kill it?" Jamie asked, covering her mouth with one hand. "Daijoubu desu ka?" Are you okay?

"I… hurt…" the light bulb said, its voice faint.

Cole gingerly unscrewed the light bulb and shook it near his ear. "You burnt it out."

Jamie felt ill at what she had done. "I just talked a light bulb spirit into committing suicide."

"Light bulbs burn out all the time."

"And people die all the time, but I don't go around murdering people."

"Okay, well… I guess we should focus on some other exercises then."

Jamie sat in Shambalah Coffeehouse, nursing her coffee and wishing her headache would go away. Pain relief medicine hadn't taken a dent out of it.
