The two of them scampered across Jamie's front yard, splashing through the puddles in the lawn. Jamie and Parker were laughing by the time they got to Jamie's front porch, soaked from the rain. They stood under the awning in front of the door and shivered.
"I'm glad you came out for the derby stuff," Parker said.
"Me too," Jamie said. "I'm… I'm looking forward to seeing more of you."
Parker smiled in spite of the cold and wet. "Yeah?"
"Yeah." Jamie waited for Parker to say something more, but Parker just smiled. "So…"
"So…"
"Am I missing something? Is this some non-verbal cue that I'm not getting?" Then something clicked in Jamie's head. "Oh."
