Glenda turned out to be Parker's 1976 Buick Regal two-door, filled with dirty laundry, fast food wrappers, and roller derby programs. The street it sat on looked half flooded, leaves clogging the storm drains, leaving icy pools of water on the edges. Jamie waited while Parker shoveled everything into her back seat. "It's not normally this bad," Parker said with a nervous smile.

"It's usually worse," a woman's voice said from inside the car. "But she always cleans up a bit when she's going courting."
