"No, please, no!" the woman yelled out. 

A man replied, "Just let go of the purse, lady, and this'll be over much faster."

Kensei came to the edge of a roof above an alley and looked down twenty feet to see a young man struggling to take a purse from a woman curled up in a ball. He kicked her and she screamed and sobbed. The young hero backed up a few steps before running and leaping off the roof. As she dropped, she angled herself to hit the mugger with both feet.

And then she hit concrete and stumbled with the unexpected impact. She had passed through the mugger as though he wasn't there. When her footing was stable, she drew her katana and turned to face the mugger, but the alley was empty. No mugger, no woman. Just wet and moldering trash at the ed...
