Jaccob frowned at her reaction, leaving her to wonder if he knew what she knew. All he said was, "Jamie, can you give us a moment alone?"

Jamie nodded, not taking her hands off her mouth as she turned and walked away toward the crowds mingling. Parker sidled up next to Jamie and wrapped an arm around her.

"I had the exact same reaction to being around Juliana," Parker said. "Isn't this fun?"

Jamie forced herself to remove her hands from her mouth, and instead crossed them over her chest. "Yeah. Fun."

The sound of shattering glass and screams of terror drew Jamie's attention. The crowd surged around Jamie, almost toppling her over on her high heels. She held onto Parker and pulled her into a corner, out of the path of the stampede.
