The man’s chest rose. “I want to believe you, but…”

“This is all you know. My K of K was my world too, but now, I know the truth.”

His chest fell. “I’m scared.”

I couldn’t believe he admitted that—I never would have. Maybe it was different now that I wasn’t a man like him anymore. He didn’t think I would judge him. “That’s okay. There are others like me who will help you if you need it....
