“I’m sure you have a lot of questions, Niel.”
I slowly turned to face Amaziel, thinking, “I sure do. How did that soldier’s arrow not hit me? Is there a protective circle around the entire jungle, keeping people in? But then, how did we get out? How did we fit through those narrow gaps between the guardian trees?” I opened my mouth, but before any of the questions made it to my tongue, I saw what was behind Amaziel.
