Eventually giving up the manager position at our previous apartment, we moved into a small gated complex in a nicer area of Phoenix. It had 16-units, a pool in the center with all the apartments facing the center courtyard. Each of the apartments had two floors, a great room, kitchen, half bath downstairs and two bedrooms and a bath upstairs. The downstairs had large glass panes for the whole front of the great room looking out on the courtyard, and the upstairs had small balconies that you could walk out on, but no windows anywhere that you could open. It was a big, spacious apartment, with lots of sunlight, built of cinder block so it stayed cool for the most part, and a pool not 10 steps from my doorway that could be used any time of the day or night.
