True to my word I kept in contact, as I was able, with friends and family back home. And on occasion, I contacted Nev as well to let him know how the baby and I were doing. After I had left town, he had moved in with Ginny. She had a spare room and he helped out by paying rent after the place he had been sharing had been lost. It was a friendly arrangement that I approved of since it helped both of them out. It also gave Ginny some company now that many of our friends had continued dispersing all over the country and David was in boot camp.
   With each phone call, Nev continued to tell me how much he missed me and seemed to be changing his mind about coming out to live with us. I encouraged him to come if he truly wanted to be with me, but didn't insist that...
