but we assumed we could figure that out as we went. We couldn't afford to have phone service if we needed to make a phone call, it was a two block walk to the nearest phone booth. Not horrible, but in the daytime heat, standing in a phone booth was melting hot. But we were no longer homeless, and that was good enough for now.
