After two long years in foster care, I was, at last, able to implement my escape. It wasn't easy and my last three months was a busy time. I had hoops to jump through for the state to ensure my release, I had to prove that I could provide for myself since the state could if it wanted to, hold me until I was 25 for various reasons. Some foster kids chose to stay in for college or other reasons, as the state would help support them until they were able to go out on their own, but I wanted nothing to do with that. I wanted out.
