be able to see each other again for almost a year, and he didn't care. He wanted me in his life, for the rest of his life. While he was talking, I realized, I wanted this too. For all the difficulties, for all the problems we would have to figure out, I wanted to be a part of his life, a part of his family, for the rest of my life as well.
   We went upstairs and announced our intentions during dinner. Laura with a big smile welcomed me to the family, his stepfather Tom, who was often a quiet man, warmly expressed his happiness, while his younger brother paused in his eating to nod his agreement. I knew then, without a doubt, that I wanted to forever be a part of this family, and felt tears forming in my eyes from their unconditional acceptance of me.
