   The school year had ended, and the beginnings of summer was creeping just around the corner. While most of my friends were looking forward to those long, lazy days eagerly, I was dreading the close confinement of my father's house. The only bright side was that I, and several of my friends, had flunked Driver's Ed and we were all going to be taking summer classes together. At least, I had that to look forward to.
   I was still given my daily ten-minute walk out of the house; it was the highlight of my day until summer school started. I couldn't go far, but it allowed me a break from the oppression of constant surveillance. My father, strictly enforcing the time, set a kitchen timer each time I left the house. If I was not in the door by the time the bell went off...
