Voter suppression is another political strategy allowed by a weak constitutional history, along with how voters are registered and identified through complicated laws. This is one of the issues that is easy to address, yet it is not in the best interests of any political party or special interest to do so. How can any definition of democracy allow someone who loses the popular vote (receiving more votes) than the other person to win an election? Less than a plurality decides nothing else in a democracy. More votes always prevail in the Senate, House, and Supreme Court. Can you imagine sporting events (except golf) where the winners score fewer points to achieve victory? It is unnatural and undemocratic for winners to be losers.
