Introduction

It all started when the wealthy one percent believed they understood what was best for the working class and the country because they are successful, well-educated businesspeople who manage their finances and properties wisely. However, the reality is that running a government differs from running a business. It is not about profit or debt; it is about protecting human rights, prioritizing safety and compassion, and maintaining peace.

Bernie Sanders wrote it best: “We have an economy in which we have a grotesque level of income and wealth inequality, where the middle class is being decimated, and more than half of our people continue to live paycheck to paycheck -- many for starvation wages.”
