Devin found himself in a mustier, chillier room darker still than the stairway. His teeth chattered from the chill in the unheated, dim chamber. Trying to place himself, he couldn’t remember exactly how he’d gotten there. Rain beat heavily on the windows. The twilight was far advanced but a small degree of illumination filtered in.
He eventually realized it was a densely packed library, oaken shelves on every wall.
