Many of you may question the sanctity of this vow. Remember that the Fectors, as portrayed in this book, have been around for a long time. The Catholic Church was responsible for the Inquisition, and they were not very nice to those who didn’t toe the company line. In order to appreciate this vow, you have to remove yourself from the modern version of Catholicism and imagine what a vow would look like from the Dark Ages when Church history was rife with superstition and cruelty....
