Father Ignacio followed Father Jeffrey up a series of old, stone stairs leading from the garage into the curia. This was a different path than he remembered taking during his induction into the Order two years ago. The smell was the same though . . . centuries of dampness mixed with foot-worn stone. They came out at the top into a long hallway with tapestries hanging along the walls and suits of medieval armor standing between them. A long, blood red rug stretched the entire length of the hallway, ending at a set of carved oaken doors. Father Ignacio wanted to view the tapestries, but Father Jeffrey was walking with a purpose that left little time to study them. What he did see showed they were depictions of battles between man and Lupus sapiens.

They walked into a large open area at the end...
