The Night

Karla didn't seem at all nervous. She knows what tonight will bring. As we waited for Blake, she laughed, quietly, to herself. Then she said, chiming in,

"Tonight is going to be fun."

How she could say this, I do not know. She's never been like this before. I said, seconding her,

"Right. We'll get our freak on."

Blake arrived, and stepped out to let us in his car. After we had left the neighborhood, he asked, his tone barely audible over his car's engine,

"Will you help me?"

It didn't matter what I would say, as I answered him,

"Sure...
