fines not exceeding USD 100,000, imprisonment for three years, and lifetime loss of rights to possess firearms under the law. 

When the founders wrote the 2nd Amendment to the United States Constitution, single-shot pistols and muskets were the only firearms available. They had no idea what was to come in the evolution of weapons. If someone cannot defend themselves with a six-shot 357 magnum, then they are likely to die while reloading.  

It is past time to have rational gun control in this country.
