you watched it work. Trust is earned by experience and verification. Nobody trusts Congress because it does not function as it was designed to. 

We have highly functioning governments in the world, yet we do not emulate them. We have the knowledge to create healthy communities known as blue zones. We know what the problems are with the climate evolution. We have the technology to change our living environment and make it safer and more responsive to the entire population's needs. We understand what drives immigration to our borders but ignore the cause.
